Vitamin C is another no-no for people with kidney stones. Although vitamin C is usually considered good for your body, it is actually transformed into oxalates that can result in even further kidney problems. You still must reach your daily recommended amount of 75 to 90 mg a day but you should avoid going over that amount if possible. If you have a uric acid stones in your kidneys, you need to avoid eating meats that are high in animal protein. Stick to fish instead. Not only is it lower in fat and great for weight loss, it is better on your kidneys as well.
Look for supplements containing magnesium citrate and try and take about 500mg of it a day. When your magnesium is low you are more prone to developing kidney stones. Magnesium is also believed to decrease the size of kidney stones so that they are easier to pass. Taking magnesium can prevent you from future kidney stone problems. Another recommended supplement intake is vitamin B6. It is recommended that you take about 25mg of vitamin B6. When you have a B6 deficiency, it is more likely that you will experience a urinary oxalate increase, which can also cause kidney stones.
